Hermione’s parents were dentists. But is this the only fact that unites the world of magic and the world of teeth? After reading this article, you will find out what kind of magic outside of Hogwarts was used by the creators of the Harry Potter films.

When the filming process was just starting, the main actors (and many secondary ones) were children. Milk teeth tend to fall out. But what the director could not allow was for the actors to “drop out” of the filming process. For this reason, each of the children took impressions of their teeth before the start of the filming process, in order to make exactly the same tooth, if necessary, so that the viewers did not notice the mismatch.

Along with Harry, Ron and Hermione, Neville Longbottom looks no less memorable. This Gryffindor student is clumsy and unconfident. The directors went to great lengths to create such an image with the help of visual means: a suit that is clearly too big for a boy, shoes that are several sizes larger. But the most interesting thing is different: by nature, the boy had uneven teeth, which emphasized his accident-prone character. Therefore, actor Matthew Lewis had a contract that forbade him to straighten his teeth until the end of filming. But then he clearly “came off to the fullest”: just look at the actor’s perfect smile now!

But Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson), who tragically died in the fourth part, is faced with the fact that he needs to straighten his teeth for the role. As you may have guessed, this is not about the role of Cedric Diggory, but about Edward Cullen, whose teeth were supposed to be perfectly even and white.

And if Robert Pattinson achieved the effect of perfectly straight teeth with Invisalign, then Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, wore braces during the filming of Harry Potter! How could the audience not see this? Fortunately, a 15-year-old girl needed to wear them for only 4 months (which is very rare, because orthodontic treatment usually takes much longer). The actress managed to start and finish the treatment during the break between filming the third and fourth parts. But this is not the only thing that the “daughter of dentists” had to go through. J.K. Rowling rewarded the main character of her novel with large front teeth. Initially, false artificial teeth were made for Emma so that the actress would better fit the description. But it was inconvenient to act with them, so the director quickly abandoned this idea.

Helena Bonham Carter still keeps the denture that helped her get used to the role of the eccentric Bellatrix Lestrange. She even tried it on at the set of the “Harry Potter Special. 20 Years Later”.

And this is only part of the facts about how much effort it took to recreate the magical universe and its characters in the smallest detail. And there is no doubt that if the eyes are the mirror of the soul, then the teeth are its smile. It is definitely not worth trying to straighten or whiten your teeth with potions or spells; in this case, it is better to trust Muggle dentists. In this area, they can work miracles!
