Guidelines for removable orthodontic plates
Dear parents and patients!
To achieve the intended treatment outcome, it is essential to follow your dentist’s advice.
Wearing schedule
Wear the aligner in accordance with your orthodontist’s individual recommendations. In most cases, the aligner must be worn for 20 hours a day.
You may only remove the aligner whilst eating, brushing your teeth and cleaning the aligner itself. The longer the aligner remains in your mouth, the faster and more effective the treatment will be.
Caring for the plates
Clean the aligner daily with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste under cool running water. The toothpaste must be thoroughly rinsed off the aligner.
If necessary, use specialised cleaning products for orthodontic appliances (cleaning tablets or foams). Do not use boiling water, alcohol or harsh antiseptic solutions, as these may deform the plastic components.
When the aligner is not in your mouth, it must be stored in a special case; otherwise, it may become deformed or get lost.
Eating
You must remove the aligner before eating. Do not wrap the appliance in napkins or paper towels to avoid losing it.
Activating the appliance
If the aligner has an orthodontic screw, it must only be activated according to the schedule prescribed by your dentist. Changing the activation schedule yourself may adversely affect the course of treatment.
Important
During the first few days, you may experience slight pressure on your teeth, increased salivation and temporary slurred speech. If the appliance breaks, is lost or causes significant discomfort, you must contact the clinic. Attend regular check-ups on the dates specified by your dentist.
Remember: the success of your treatment depends on wearing the aligner regularly. Failure to follow the recommendations may lead to a longer treatment period and the inability to achieve the planned result.
