Procedure in case of air raid alert and possible shelling in Kyiv: instructions for patients

The medical center operates in accordance with the “Instructions on Staff Actions in the Event of an Air Raid Alert” dated April 24, 26, which is communicated to every employee and patient. Specifically, an excerpt from the instructions states:

“3.1. In the event of a yellow-level air threat, the dental clinic and its staff continue to operate. Patients and visitors may, at their own discretion, move to the nearest available shelter or to a designated area within the dental clinic with the lowest risk of exposure (safe space).

4.4. Patients, visitors, and other individuals present at the dental clinic, upon receiving notification of a red-level air threat, shall move to the nearest available shelter; if no such shelter is available or if it is impossible to reach it in a timely manner, they shall move to a designated area within the dental clinic with the lowest risk of exposure (safe space), in accordance with the instructions of the dental clinic staff.

4.6. Patients whose condition prevents them from moving, as well as individuals who cannot be moved within a reasonable time and in a reasonable manner, shall remain in place. Medical care for them shall not be interrupted.

5.4. In the event of a surgical procedure, while the patient is under anesthesia or sedation, or under other circumstances in which discontinuing medical care could pose a threat to the patient’s life or health, medical care shall continue until it is safe to discontinue it or transfer the patient.”

Each patient undergoing treatment signs a written consent form agreeing to the conditions of their stay at the medical center during an air raid alert, and also:

• confirms that they have read the above instructions;
• understands and accepts the potential risks that may arise during treatment (in particular, during surgical procedures, anesthesia, or the postoperative period) in the event of an air raid or shelling;
• decides to undergo treatment in accordance with the proposed conditions.

In the event of an immediate threat to the area where the medical center is located, staff, patients, and visitors are required to immediately move to the nearest available shelter.
