In what cases is TENS therapy used at Astra Dent?

The main goal of microcurrent therapy in dentistry is to relieve pain and restore the functions of the maxillofacial area. Our patients address us with symptoms such as jaw pain or crunching, neck, head or face pain, a feeling that something is wrong with the jaw, and tinnitus. 1. Temporomandibular disorders. TMJs are problems with the joints and muscles that control jaw movements. Simply put, it indicates problems with chewing, speaking and jaw movements.

Main characteristics of TENS

1. Low current intensity: The microcurrents used in TENS have a very low intensity, which ensures a safe and comfortable treatment. Usually these currents are less than 1 milliampere.
2. Transcutaneous application: Electrical impulses are delivered through electrodes that are attached to the patient’s skin in the area that needs treatment. This allows treatment to be carried out without the need for internal intervention.
3. Biphasic pulses: Pulses that alternate between positive and negative electrical charges help reduce skin and tissue irritation.
4. Adjustable parameters: The frequency, amplitude and duration can be adjusted by the doctor according to the specific needs and symptoms of the patient.
5. Reducing pain and inflammation: TENS can reduce pain caused by various diseases or conditions and help reduce inflammation in tissues.
6. Functional rehabilitation: TENS can be used to restore muscle function after injury or surgery.
