What is computer-controlled anesthesia at Astra Dent dental clinics?
Computer-controlled anesthesia is a method of local anesthesia that uses computer technology to accurately and painlessly administer the anesthetic to the desired location. In dentistry, it is often used to anesthetize teeth and oral tissues.
The computer anesthesia process begins with the use of a special device called a computer pump, which controls the speed and pressure of the anesthetic drug administration. Once the needle is inserted into the injection site, patients often feel slight pressure but no pain.
Computer anesthesia technology allows for precise dosing of the drug and provides a more comfortable and painless anesthesia procedure.
What procedures are performed under this type of anesthesia?
Computer anesthesia can be used for local anesthesia during various dental procedures, such as:
- caries treatment and tooth extraction;
- dental prosthetics;
- endodontic treatment (root canal treatment);
- treatment of soft tissue inflammation in the oral cavity;
- treatment of soft tissue inflammation in the oral cavity;
- computer anesthesia can be used as the primary method of local anesthesia, as well as in combination with other methods, such as infiltration or conduction anesthesia.
What are the contraindications for this type of anesthesia?
Like any other medical procedure, computer anesthesia has contraindications. Some of them may include:
- allergy to the components of the anesthetic used in computer anesthesia;
- acute infection in the area where the procedure is planned;
- cardiovascular diseases or blood pressure problems;
- pregnancy (in some cases);
- the patient’s inability to understand and cooperate (for example, in children with autism spectrum disorders).
Before using computer anesthesia, the anesthesiologist must conduct a thorough medical examination and assess all risks and contraindications for the specific patient.
