How does a dental consultation take place?

If this is your first visit to our dental clinic, you will need to complete certain documents. This is a mandatory requirement of the Ministry of Health and serves as a guarantee of safe treatment and clear communication between us.

Your doctor will collect your medical history: ask a number of questions and perform an examination of your oral cavity and all teeth. It is important that you mention all complaints regarding pain, discomfort, inflammation, bleeding gums, and other concerns. If you are afraid of forgetting something, write down your key complaints in advance.

The dentist may prescribe diagnostic tests — a CT scan or an X-ray. These are paid separately. Such examinations help the doctor determine the condition of the teeth, root canals, and roots. In the presence of dental diseases, a visual examination alone is not enough.

Based on the imaging results, the doctor prepares a treatment plan and may recommend additional consultations with colleagues. Do not be surprised that one doctor cannot treat all dental issues. In the Astra Dent network in Kyiv, the initial consultation is usually conducted by a general dentist. If gum problems are diagnosed, you will be referred to a periodontist; for tooth extraction — to a surgeon; for tooth restoration — to an implantologist; for bite correction — to an orthodontist, and so on. The doctor explains the treatment plan in detail, including its stages and costs. You can ask any questions and discuss the treatment budget. It is possible to divide the treatment into more stages or take advantage of promotional offers.
